2017 Wānanga-ā-Tau Ōmaka Marae, Blenheim 23–26 March 2017

Our annual wānanga will be held at Ōmaka Marae, Blenheim, in the heart of the Marlborough wine region, from 23 to 26 March 2017. As well as the usual whakawhanaunga and presentations, the programme will include a visit to Wairau Bar, and a local winery. There will be a workshop session working with the hau kāinga on master planning future developments at the marae.

Registrations can be found here:

The pōwhiri will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday 23 March, so those travelling from the North Island will be able to take the 9:00 am ferry sailing from Wellington. Alternatively, Ōmaka Marae is conveniently situated close to Blenheim Airport, with regular flights from Auckland and Wellington (Air New Zealand), Wellington, Paraparaumu, Napier, Christchurch and Kaikoura (Sounds Air), and Paraparaumu (air2there).  The hui will conclude at noon on Sunday 26 March, to allow connection with the 2:15 pm ferry sailing from Picton.  While this is not a specifically international indigenous hui, our international manuhiri who joined us at Whakapara, and others, are more than welcome to attend.
